We are excited to announce a grant has been awarded from United Way of Story County of $941. This grant will be used to purchase sanitizing equipment and product for the buses in Story county to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Julia Castillo, HIRTA’s executive director, is “This grant provides HIRTA a really great opportunity to install automatic touchless hand sanitizer dispensers. We have taken extreme caution with the COVID-19 pandemic and implemented increased procedures to keep our communities safe. By adding the motion-sensor hand sanitizer dispensers, we are providing our riders with continued safeguards to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Thanks to the United Way of Story County for awarding us this grant, which will benefit our riders and drivers even after the pandemic is behind us.”
We are aware of Iowa lifting restrictions on COVID-19 guidelines however, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) issued a Security Directive requiring masks to be worn to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This means HIRTA is federally mandated to enforce masks are worn at all times while boarding and riding.
Thank you to our communities for understanding and to all of HIRTA’s heroes for keeping us safe. We would also like to thank the United Way of Story County for awarding this grant. To find out more on what HIRTA is doing to help stop the spread, please visit www.ridehirta.com/health.
