Heart of Transit was established by HIRTA as a non-profit entity to enhance transportation services within central Iowa. Donating allows us to serve our communities and provide rides to food banks, health clinics, jobs or wherever else they might want to go. So please, consider donating. The Adopt-A-Rider program is crucial to provide rides to those in need. It is often misconstrued that funding for public transit comes solely from the government. However, it is a mix of federal and state dollars, contracts, local tax, fares and miscellaneous funding. This includes donations, grants, advertising revenue among others.
