Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Denise I am trustworthy, outgoing and talkative. Settled in Iowa after traveling around the country with my husband while working for 11 yrs. In our RV we traveled and spent lots of time in many cities across this country. Met a lot of great people in many states.

Why do you volunteer?

I enjoy helping where needed, feel like I have time and knowledge to share.

Why did you choose to volunteer with RSVP?

I was ready to get out and meet some folks in my community, to give my time to help someone less fortunate that doesn't have the ability to get around.

What has been your favorite part of being a volunteer?

Getting to meet folks in my community and listening to them chat about their lives challenges.

What is your favorite story of a time you helped someone?

Helping an individual out of his car with Alzheimer's. He was just stuck sitting there, all he needed is for someone to touch him to bring his brain back to realize what he was trying to do. Helped me learn a little about the disease something I had not known.

What would you say to people who might be on the fence about volunteering through RSVP?

Just try it. You find out that you have more in common with your neighbors than you realized. Everyone needs help every now and then, why not share what is possible to help another individual.
