The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of our lives in one way or another. Whether that’s losing a job, missing out on your favorite events of the year, or maybe even you or someone you know has contracted the virus.

Heart of Transit was established by HIRTA as a non-profit entity to enhance transportation services within central Iowa. The purpose of this non-profit is to search for funding and donations then use those funds to help create new programs, fund transportation services and implement ongoing transportation options in central Iowa.

People ride HIRTA for a variety of reasons. They might need to go to the clinic, get some groceries or maybe even a hair appointment. People might not realize that some riders use HIRTA to get to work. Without HIRTA, some of our riders wouldn’t be able to sustain a job because they would no longer have reliable transportation to and from work. This is why we need to help others out when we can.

For example, a donation of just $25, helps us provide five rides to someone in need. A donation like this is so crucial right now because with all the uncertainty, this might save someone’s job they desperately need to provide for themselves or their family.

Donating to Heart of Transit benefits HIRTA by allowing us to serve our communities and provide rides to food banks, health clinics, jobs or wherever else they might want to go. So please, consider donating. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps HIRTA continue to provide this valuable service to those who rely on us.
